Andrew completed his articles with KPMG in Johannesburg in 1999. Thereafter he relocated to London, where he spent three years employed by UBS and Credit Suisse, before returning to South Africa to pursue a career in private equity.
Andrew joined AMB in 2001 as an associate in the private equity division and in time progressed to senior portfolio manager, where he was responsible for all aspects of the private equity lifecycle. During his tenure at AMB, he was integrally involved in some of the larger MBOs, in addition to managing a number of the smaller investments, in various stages of the investment lifecycle. His responsibilities included the operational management of a portfolio asset for a period of 12 months and board representation on a number of portfolio company boards. His portfolio included companies across a diverse industry range, including retail, services, manufacturing and technology.
Andrew left AMB in July 2007 and in 2008, he established Trinitas, together with John Stipinovich and Soteris Theorides.
John completed his accounting articles with Deloitte & Touche, Johannesburg. Thereafter he worked for stockbroker Simpson McKie (now HSBC) as a client services consultant for one year. In 1996, he joined Standard Corporate & Merchant Bank as a manager in the Project Finance Division where he specialised in limited recourse infrastructure finance. During his tenure in the division, he was involved in a number of high profile projects for local and international sponsors in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, from both a debt raising and an advisory perspective.
In 1998, John joined AMB as a transactor in the private equity division and was appointed as joint head of private equity in 2001. Together with Soteris Theorides, he was responsible for the strategic and operational management of two private equity funds which invested approximately R800 million. He served on the investment committee of both funds.
John’s private equity work experience has involved the full scope of private equity investing, managing and divesting activities, including deal origination and investment via negotiated purchases and public to private transactions, structuring management and leveraged buy-outs, raising debt capital, managing investments, and exiting investments through negotiated and tender sales. In addition, he was integrally involved in fund capital raising initiatives and interaction with limited partner fund investors. He has served on numerous portfolio company boards and committees.
In 2008, John, together with his two former colleagues, established Trinitas.
Soteris completed his articles with Deloitte, Johannesburg, before moving to Boston, USA, where he was employed as a manager with Deloitte in their Financial Services division for two years. While there, he successfully passed his CPA (Massachusetts) exams.
On returning to South Africa in 1998, Soteris joined AMB as a transactor in the Private Equity Division and in 2001, was appointed as joint head of private equity together with John Stipinovich. In this role, he was responsible for the strategic and operational management of two private equity funds which invested approximately R800 million across 21 investments. He served on the investment committee of both funds during his tenure as joint head and sat on several boards and committees as the funds’ representative.
Soteris’ private equity work experience has involved the full scope of private equity investing, managing and divesting activities, structuring transactions, raising debt capital, managing portfolio investments, and exiting investments. In addition, his investing experience includes structured leverage / SPV type transactions and BEE investment holding company type transactions.
In 2008, Soteris together with his two former colleagues, established Trinitas.
