Sasfin is an independent banking and financial services group listed on the JSE since 1987. The Group has evolved from a family owned textile company established in 1951, into one of the country’s leading financial services groups.
Sasfin was built on the back of trade financing opportunities that had been identified by the Sassoon family, in their capacity as importers in the textile industry. Debtor and equipment finance were later added to the offering of the financial services company. Led by Roland Sassoon, Sasfin realised the need to secure the capital base of the organisation, and consequently listed on the JSE in 1987. In 1991, the group took the innovative step of raising capital by way of securitising its equipment rental agreements. Sasfin was later able to add client deposits to its capital-generation capabilities when it secured a banking licence in 1999.
